Schon den ganzen Tag über brodelt die Gerüchteküche, dass der Release von »LittleBigPlanet« in Europa verschoben werden muss. Mittlerweile ist sicher, dass der Release von LBP weltweit verschoben wird. Grund dafür ist ein Musikstück im Spiel, dass zwei Textauszüge aus dem Koran enthält. Für muslimische Gläubige kann dass wiederum eine Beleidigung ihrer Religion darstellen, was Sony wohl zu einem präventiven Rückruf der bereits an die Händler ausgelieferten Exemplare zwingt. Ein neuer offizieller Releasetermin steht noch nicht fest. Laut Gerüchten könnte es erst Mitte November soweit sein.

Offizielles Statement SCEE: During the review process prior to the release of LittleBigPlanet, it has been brought to our attention that one of the background music tracks licensed from a record label for use in the game contains two expressions that can be found in the Qur’an. We have taken immediate action to rectify this and we sincerely apologise for any offence that this may have caused. We’ll confirm the new launch date shortly. (via)

Update 01: Der betroffene Song ist übrigens von »Toumani Diabaté’s Symmetric Orchestra«, nennt sich »Tapha Niang« und hört sich ungefähr so gefährlich an wie ein frisch bestrichenes Butterbrot. Die Band läuft unter dem Genre Weltmusik, das passende Album hört auf den Namen »Boulevard de l’Indépendance«.

Update 02: Die LBP-Entwickler »Media Molecule« haben mittlerweile eine Erklärung auf der eigenen Homepage veröffentlicht. Demzufolge könnte bereits zum ersten Verkaufstag ein Patch bereitstehen, der das »Problem« behebt. Trotzdem hat sich Sony dazu entschlossen, die bereits ausgelieferten Blu-rays zurückzurufen:

Media Molecule: We learnt yesterday that there is a lyric in one of the licensed tracks which some people may find offensive, and which slipped through the usual screening processes. Obviously MM and Sony together took this very seriously. LBP should be enjoyable by all. So within 12 hours of hearing about this issue involving a lyric (in Somalian, I believe!), we prepared an automatic day 0 patch and had a new disk image ready; however a decision was made within Sony that the right thing to do for quality and support of people with no on-line was to replace existing disks. They assure us that they are doing everything in their power to get things straightened out as fast as possible, and will announce dates soon.

Update 03+04: LittleBigPlanet erscheint in Nordamerika am 27. Oktober, sagt der offizielle PS-Blog. Europa bekommt LBP am 3. November.
